May 5 - Pray for the Indigenous Peoples of Mexico in the USA

As Mexicans in Puebla and many Americans in the USA celebrate Cinco de Mayo today, please pray for the indigenous peoples who have immigrated to the USA. They are here by the tens of thousands and are hidden all around us.  They struggle to learn Spanish and English.  They live in constant fear.  They are discriminated against by other immigrants as being “uneducated indians.” God has brought these people to us so they can come to Christ. They need to be found, reached with the gospel, and helped to start churches among their people both here and in Mexico.  Pray that churches in the USA would reach out and embrace their indigenous Mexican neighbors and do whatever it takes to reach them for Christ. 

May 4 - Pray for the Western Chinantec

The Western Chinantec have a population of 6,400 in Mexico, and perhaps may be found in the USA. Their primary language is Spanish and their primary religion is a mixture of native religious practices and Roman Catholicism.  This people group is less than 2% evangelical but there is a church planting work among them being led by Mexican believers.

1. Ask the Father to raise up workers to take them the gospel
2. Ask God to raise up people of peace who will give gospel workers access to their people
3. Ask for open access, as many groups are suspicious of evangelicals
4. Ask for His Holy Spirit to prepare their hearts to receive the gospel
5. Ask that God would highlight those who have immigrated to the USA to churches so that they can be evangelized, discipled, and mobilized to reach their people, both in the USA and Mexico.

May 3 - Pray for the Zenzontepec Chatino

The Zenzontepec Chatino have a population of 16,500 in Mexico, and are also found in California in the USA. Their primary language is Zenzontepec Chatino and their primary religion is a mixture of native religious practices and Roman Catholicism.  This people group is less than 2% evangelical but there have been some recent church planting efforts among them by Mexican believers. An IMB research team was recently asked to leave this people group.  Pray for the team trying to reach them as they explore creative access opportunities.

May 2 - Pray for the Yaitepec Chatino

The Yaitepec Chatino have a population of 4,900 in Mexico, and are also found in North Carolina and Georgia in the USA. Their primary language is Western Highland Chatino and their primary religion is a mixture of native religious practices and Roman Catholicism.  They are less than 2% evangelical and there has been no active church planting among them in recent years.  A worker has begun work among this group in Mexico, but much help is needed, and there is a need for churches to reach out to them in the USA.

May 1 - Praying for the Unreached Peoples of Mexico

There are 28 distinct people groups in Mexico who are considered unreached with the gospel.  This means that less than two percent of the population has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Access to the gospel for these peoples is limited due to language and cultural differences which hinder the natural spread of the good news, as well as their geographical isolation.  As we pray for each of these people groups by name each day this month, please ask for the following:

1. Ask the Father to raise up more workers to take the gospel to them
2. Ask God to raise up people of peace who will give gospel workers access to their people
3. Ask for open access, as many groups are suspicious of evangelicals
4. Ask for His Holy Spirit to prepare their hearts to receive the gospel
5. Ask that God would highlight those who have immigrated to the USA to churches so that they can be evangelized, discipled, and mobilized to reach their people, both in the USA and Mexico.

2016 Month of Prayer for the Unreached Peoples of Mexico

It's time for the third annual Month of Prayer for the Unreached Peoples of Mexico! Most believers in the USA don't know that just over the border in Mexico, there are 200 different indigenous people groups, each with their own distinctive cultural and religious practices and speaking a multitude of different languages and dialects. Many of these people groups are poorly reached with the gospel, 13 are not only unreached but nobody is actively working to take them the gospel, and another 15 are unreached, but have some initial efforts to reach them.
It's time to pray for God's Spirit to fall upon them in power to draw them unto Himself. It's time to pray for the Lord of the Harvest to thrust out laborers and churches who are compelled to take the gospel to these people groups who are so geographically close to all of the resources of the American church, but so very far from the truth of the gospel. It's time to pray for the representatives of these people groups who have come to the United States in search of economic opportunity and freedom from violence to find true abundance and peace in Christ.

Thank you for your prayers for the unreached peoples of Mexico throughout the month of May.  As a direct result of your prayers, two unreached people groups that we had not previously known were located in the USA have now been located.  Both the Huichol and the Zenzontepec Chatino are among the most unreached peoples in all of Mexico, and since they have now been located in the USA, it will make it easier for churches here to begin to reach out to them with the gospel.  Please thank God for the location of these groups, and ask Him to raise up churches who will adopt them here in the USA and bring them the Good News of new life in Christ.
